Opinion about Election

Do you know what is the election? And do you agree with that doctrine or not?

Before I let you know about my opinion, I want to make sure that we understand what the election is. So this is the define election as follows: “Election is an act of God before creation in which he chooses some people to be saved, not on account of any foreseen merit in them, but only because of his sovereign good pleasure.” (Wayne Grudem)

To be honest, I really feel sad whenever I read about this doctrine. Why? Because the doctrine is telling us that God has chosen us to be saved and others to perish in the hell. How can I be happy if I was chosen by God to go to heaven whereas my sibling was chosen to perish in hell? And according to the doctrine, our prayers cannot change anything. It makes me feel my life and even everyone’s life like a game of God because our life are already predestined by God. Moreover,  I found so many things contradictory to the doctrine about God himsefl. If the doctrine of election is true, why did God make the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and predestined Adam and Eve to fail? Why would the Lord predestine the destinies of humans and yet be grieved in Genesis 6:6 “And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart?” Why God gave to Israel a choice: if they believe and obey everything that He commanded, they would be blessing or punishment in Deuteronomy 30:15-20, (15: See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;…19: I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.) Why when Israel failed by worshipping others idols, the Lord became angry and sad? ( Exodus 32:9-10.) Why in I Tim 2:4 said “who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth”, “Men become right with God by putting their trust in Jesus Christ. God will accept men if they come this way. All men are the same to God.” (Roman 3:22) and (Luke 15:10) “Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” Why Jesus said to us about our prayer like that: “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16:24) and “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (Matthew 21:22),…..

Then I really confused about what I read. I asked God to help me to know what should I believe in? And the verse came to me: “…Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Mathew 19:14) Finally, I know that God wants me to believe whatever He said or written in the Bible. And accept them without trying to know what is true because for us as a human, we cannot understand everything about God. Indeed, God doesn’t want me to understand all about Him but He wants me to trust Him.

In conclusion, I believe that God loves me and everyone whom he created so He died to us to be save (John 3:16). And He wants me to preach His love so that everyone will have a chance to hear and to repent (Mark 16:15; II Peter 3:9). For believers, I believe that God has chosen them to know and accept his love and to go and bear fruit (John 15:16). But for unbelievers, I believe that we have to bring God words to them, pray for them and let the result to God. I believe that God will answer my prayer if I pray with all my faith, my heart and the prayers are not on my pleasures (Mathew 7:7, 21:22; James 4:3; John 16:24.)
